THE PUBLICATION

About

Public Source Journal is an independent editorial reading room about the public information surrounding Social Security.

Our purpose

We explain how to identify a speaker, preserve a qualifier, distinguish dates, compare editions and recognize the point at which a public article cannot answer a personal question. The value is careful reading, not completing a transaction.

The collection contains twelve original essays and seven original conceptual diagrams. Fictional library, museum and community examples are labeled as invented. They are not Social Security rules or representations of a real person’s circumstances. The Reading Path Desk is an original client-side article selector, not a government service locator or eligibility tool.

Publisher and independence

Responsible publisher: mike bravo. Editorial contact: fintwis1ta@corp.com.

This publication is not affiliated with, sponsored by or operated by the Social Security Administration or any government agency. Subject names identify the subjects of the articles, not the publisher. The publisher funds this website. This publication does not receive affiliate commissions or payment for the articles in this collection.

How we use sources

Official public SSA pages support narrowly stated facts about those pages and services. Most of each article is original explanation, comparison and reading practice. Each source block identifies what was reviewed and what was not. We do not claim that a source link is an endorsement. We did not sign in to an SSA account, submit an application, authenticate a reader, call an office or test a benefits workflow.

This collection was prepared with automated assistance using the public sources cited in the articles. A source-check date records a source review, not a professional certification or an account test. The publisher is responsible for deciding what is published and for assessing reported corrections.

Source-check dates are distinct from publication dates, effective dates and account tests. Where official pages display inconsistent details, we identify the narrow discrepancy rather than invent a resolution. We make no eligibility promises, deadline determinations, personalized benefit calculations or individualized legal or financial recommendations.

What we do not collect or provide

No applications, SSNs, credentials, medical information or financial records are requested. There are no document uploads, application fees, account-recovery offers, paid government-service referrals or benefit processing services. SSA provides replacement Social Security cards free of charge. Public information can be read directly at the external official SSA website.

Corrections and accessibility

Use the publication contact address to report a broken source, an unclear passage or an error. Include the article address and a public reference. This website does not access personal accounts, accept identity, medical or financial records, or provide government services or individualized legal or financial advice. A correction can name the article address, the passage and a public reference. Do not send private records. If a concern relates to an agency decision, official communication or urgent personal matter, use the appropriate official route rather than waiting for an editorial reply.

Semantic headings, labeled controls, local diagrams with text alternatives, keyboard-visible focus and no-script reading fallbacks are supplied. These design choices are not a claim of certification or testing with every assistive technology. Report barriers through our Contact page.
